Marcus "Delpan" Larsson has been picked as the Most Valuable Player of DreamHack Summer 2011, which means that our community didn't agree with the organizers' choice of Martin "trace" Heldt. Both of them also feature in the All-Star lineup, along with three more players.

As the final part of our DreamHack Summer 2011 coverage, we bring you the MVP and the All-Star lineup which our community voted for through a couple of polls, one for the public and one for the "experts". A while after DreamHack Summer 2011 ended, we created a list of nominees for those categories here allowing you to vote and the results from that poll will represent the public's half of the vote. The "experts" half will come from the opinions of players who participated at the event as well as e-sports journalists who we asked privately (33 experts in total).

MVP

In the fourth major event of the year, we had a new winning team as well as a new MVP. SK Gaming won the tournament and the Most Valuable Player according to the majority of opinions was their latest addition Marcus "Delpan" Larsson. Even though the public picked Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev slightly ahead of Larsson, almost half of the experts prevailed and named the Swedish AWPer as the MVP. The tournament's official best player, Martin "trace" Heldt ended up 2nd in the vote overall, also mostly thanks to the opinions of the experts.

Larsson (in the middle) lifting his first cheque with SK Gaming

Larsson joined SK Gaming only a few weeks prior to the tournament, leaving fnatic on rather bad terms and breaking his contract. But, as far as him and SK Gaming are concerned, it payed off immediately as the team managed to win an international title right away after 10 months without success, while Larsson took his second title this year, after winning IEM5 European Championship Finals with fnatic.

The main area where Larsson brought improvement for the team was of course AWPing, by which he certainly helped them win some extra rounds that they couldn't win before. He ended up being the best AWPer of the tournament with a 0.34 awpKPR (89 total kills) and he played well on a consistent basis, recording ratings above 1.00 on 8 of 10 occasions. In addition to that, he was by most people considered the best player of the final against mTw, and all those things significantly backed up his MVP claim.

All-star lineup

The vote for the All-Star lineup didn't turn out particularly exciting, as all four of the MVP nominees, along with Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg, were picked with over 60% of votes.

All-star lineup of DreamHack Summer 2011:

UkraineIoann "Edward" Sukhariev (Na´Vi)
DenmarkMartin "trace" Heldt (mTw)
SwedenMarcus "Delpan" Larsson (SK Gaming)
SwedenPatrik "f0rest" Lindberg (SK Gaming)
SwedenChristopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund (SK Gaming)

The event's best rated player with a 1.31 rating, Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev was the first pick of the public with 71% of the votes, and together with a similar result from the experts' vote (73%), he was the first choice for the All-Star lineup.

Next one is the official MVP of the tournament, Martin "trace" Heldt, who wasn't particularly favored by the public as their 5th choice (55%), but the experts disagreed largely by picking him in most of their lineups (82%).

The third member of the All-Star lineup is our MVP and the best AWPer of the tournament Marcus "Delpan" Larsson, who was given 56% of the public's votes and quite a bit more from the experts (79%).

The fourth choice was Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg, who was surprisingly voted into the lineup despite a barely-above-average performance statistically (1.05 rating, 4th in his team and 13th best at the event). However, he was the best pistol-round player of the tournament and had a great showing in his team's hardest match against Natus Vincere in the semi-final, which could explain him being 2nd most picked by the public (67%) and 5th most by the experts (61%).

The final member of the fictional lineup is the best rated player from the winning team, Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund, who barely missed out on this award at Xperia PLAY 2011, but now he is in with both feet having received 64% from both sides of the vote.

This marks the end of our DreamHack Summer 2011 coverage, but stay tuned for future tournaments, as we have GameGune coming up this weekend and e-Stars next month for which we will provide full coverage.
