RUBINO: "we're not scared of them"

We had a chance to catch a confident Ruben "RUBINO" Villarroel before the final, which will feature Dignitas facing-off against French powerhouse EnVyUs for the Game Show Global eSports Cup 2016 title.
Dignitas has been turning a lot of heads since this lineup's inception two months ago, with a semifinal run at Dreamhack Leipzig and now playing nV for the title in Vilnius. We talked to Ruben "RUBINO" Villarroel to get a feel for the team's expectations going into the bout.
How are you guys feeling ahead of the final?
We’re feeling really great. We have good potential. It seems like we’re just improving after each game. We’re still a pretty new team, like two months old or so. Dreamhack Lepzig was our first event and after it we found some new ways on how to improve. We’ve been working on it and hopefully it’s going to pay off and we can win this LAN. We’ll see, but we feel very confident and we’ll just try to play our game.
You guys already beat EnVyUs 2-0 quite brilliantly, they didn’t even get 10 rounds on either of the maps. Do you think you guys are going to be able to establish dominance in the final?
I think the final is going to be a lot closer. We’ve been watching their games and it seems they have been playing a bit better. I think when we played them they were playing a bit sloppy. Sure, we played great and it wasn’t just that they didn’t hit their shots, but I think they can play better when they’re in better shape. It will be close, but I think we can grab it.
EnVyUs are perhaps known to start slow, get on a roll, and end up winning tournaments. Is that something you’re scared of?
We’re not scared of them. We feel that how we play works really well against them, because they rely a lot on individuals, pushing a lot. It works well for us, because we know what to do against it and we’re not afraid to take the duels.
You guys were really on point with trading and getting yourself in good mid to late round situations, gaining the upper hand. Is that going to be a key to this match?
Of course, teamplay is the key. We have been working on it very hard. That’s something all agreed upon from the start, this team was going to feature a lot of teamplay. We have good individuals, such as Kjaerbye, but we agreed that this team will not just play solo all the time. We will play as a unit, going together and win off of that.
Tune in to the grand final of the Game Show Global eSports Cup at 16:00 to watch Dignitas and EnVyUs battle it out for the bulk of the $200,000 prize.
